Massive Russian Air Attack: 24 Killed

May 13-14, 2026

  • Russia carried out one of the largest aerial assaults since the start of the full-scale war, launching 1,484 airstrikes against Ukraine between May 13 and the morning of May 14.
  • The attack targeted multiple regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and frontline areas, with explosions and air defense activity reported across the country.
  • In Kyiv, a russian Kh-101 missile struck a nine-story residential building, completely destroying one entrance (18 apartments).
  • Search and rescue operations lasted more than 28 hours and were completed on the morning of May 15.
  • As a result of the strike, 24 people were killed, including three children.
  • 57 people were reported injured.

Russian Air Attacks

May 5, 2026

  • During the night, russian forces carried out a series of strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure across multiple regions, with the main focus on Poltava region.
  • A double-tap strike was reported on an energy facility, hitting the site again while State Emergency Service personnel were already engaged in firefighting operations.
  • As a result, 4 people were killed, including 2 emergency responders, and dozens were injured.
  • In Kharkiv region, 4 people were injured and 1 person was killed due to the strikes.

Zaporizhzhia:

  • 12 killed, 46 injured as a result of an airstrike.
  • Fire broke out at a service station with 10+ vehicles.

Kramatorsk (Donetsk region):

  • 5 killed, 12 injured in a strike on the city center.
  • Fires involving 8 vehicles and a building of an educational institution.
  • Apartment buildings and civilian cars damaged.

Nikopol district (Dnipropetrovsk region):

  • 1 killed, 13 injured.
  • Damage reported to hospital, lyceum, shops, gas station, enterprises, residential buildings, and vehicles.

Kindergarten Damaged by Russian Drone Strike

May 6, 2026

  • Russian forces struck central Sumy with two drones, hitting a kindergarten.
  • The drones arrived with a five-minute interval, with a second strike reported while emergency crews were already at the scene.
  • The attack caused a fire and partial destruction of the kindergarten building.
  • Two women, both employees of the kindergarten, were killed.
  • Seven people were injured.

Chernihiv region

  • On the evening of May 8, a russian drone struck an agricultural enterprise in a border area.
  • 2 civilians killed: a 70-year-old man and his 49-year-old son.

Dnipropetrovsk region (May 13):

  • 2 killed, 4 injured, including a child.
  • Infrastructure, an industrial facility, and a gas pipeline damaged.

Synelnykove district:

  • 2 killed in residential areas during a night attack.
  • Additional 4 people killed and 4 injured in earlier strikes.
  • Over 20 houses damaged across communities.

Export

May 14, 2026

In the 2025/26 MY, Ukraine exported 31.5 mln tons of grains and legumes, which is 5.7 mln tons, or 15% lower compared to the same period last season.

Export structure:

  • Wheat: 11.7 mln tons, down 2.8 mln tons, or 19% compared to last season;
  • Corn: 17.9 mln tons, down 10% year-on-year;
  • Barley: around 1.5 mln tons, which is 36% lower compared to the same period last season;
  • Rye: 0.2 K tons, down from 10.8 K tons last season;
  • Flour: 55.6 K tons, which is 11% lower compared to last year.

Grain Rail Shipments

  • As of May 12, rail transportation of grains reached 1.219 mln tons, up 1.4% compared to the same period of April.
  • Export grain flows totaled 1.108 mln tons (+3% vs. April).
  • Shipments through ports amounted to 1.014 mln tons, increasing by 2% month-on-month.
  • At the same time, grain exports via land border crossings rose by 17% to 94 K tons.

Planting

May 12, 2026

As of May 12, Ukrainian agricultural producers have planted 3.78 mln ha of spring grains and legumes, which accounts for 63% of the forecasted area.

Corn — 2.4 mln ha

Spring wheat — 179.1 K ha

Spring barley — 704.2 K ha

Peas — 256.2 K ha

Oats — 136.5 K ha

Buckwheat — 7.6 K ha

Millet — 11.1 K ha

Buckwheat planting has already started in eight regions of Ukraine, with 7.58 K ha planted so far.

Planting of industrial crops is also ongoing, with a total of 3.67 mln ha sown.

Sugar beet — 187.2 K ha (95%)

Sunflower — 2.6 mln ha (52%)

Soybeans — 883.4 K ha (43%)
