War news

  • Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers in action since start of invasion, says the President Volodymyr Zelensky.
  • He also claimed that 198,000 Russian soldiers had been killed and a further 550,000 wounded.
  • However, Donald Trump, wrote that Ukrainian military losses had reached 400,000 soldiers and many more civilians.
  • As of August, russia killed 11,743 civilians and injured 24,614, according to the UN, but the actual figures are likely much higher.

Situation on the frontline

  • The situation on the Zaporizhzhia front is becoming “very difficult and tense”
  • On December 6 (evening of St. Nicholas Day), russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih.
  • At least 11 killed.

Harvesting

73.6 mln tons of new grain and oilseed crops were harvested on an area of ​​19.5 mln ha.

In total, 53.9 mln tons of grains and almost 19.7 mln tons of oilseeds were harvested:

  • wheat – 22.4 mln tons;
  • barley – 5.6 mln tons;
  • peas – 469 thousand tons;
  • corn – 24.2 mln tons;
  • millet – 161.3 K tons;
  • buckwheat – 131.7 K tons;
  • sunflower – 10.2mln tons;
  • soybeans – 6mln tons;
  • rapeseed – 3.5mln tons.

Planting

5.063 mln ha, or 98%, were sown with winter grain crops in Ukraine:

  • winter wheat — 4.384 mln ha, or 98%;
  • winter barley — 611.1 K ha, or 96%;
  • winter rye — 68.6 K ha, or 97%.

In 16 regions of Ukraine, the planned sowing area indicators have been achieved.


Agrarians of 12 regions have completed the sowing of the specified crop.


As for winter rape, the sown area is currently 1.083mln ha, or 96%.

Export

  • Since the beginning of the 2024/25 MY, Ukraine has exported 18.855 mln tones of grain and leguminous crops (as of December 6).
  • 480 K tons have been shipped since the beginning of December.

 

In MY 2024/25, exports of all major crops are higher than last year. Since the beginning of the current season exported:

wheat – 9.078 mln tons (in MY 2023/24 – 6.057 mln tons);

– barley – 1.865 mln tons (889 K tons);

– rye – 10.8 thousand tons (0.9 K tons);

– corn – 7.6 mln tons (6.642 mln tons).

 

  • In November 2024/25 MY, Ukraine exported 466 K tons of soybeans, down 31% compared to October and 9% compared to November 2023.
  • It’s due to the decrease in the purchases of Ukrainian soybeans by the EU countries.
  • In the reporting month, Ukraine shipped only 189 K tons of soybeans to the EU (324 K tons in October).
  • In November, the volume of agricultural products exported from Ukraine by road transport decreased by 11.7% (compared to October).
  • The largest reduction was recorded at the borders with Romania and Poland – 20.6% lower.
  • At the Slovakian border, the volumes decreased by 5.8%
  • At the Hungarian border – by only 1%
  • Exports through the Moldovan border remained at the level of October.

 

  • The capacity of the railway towards the ports has decreased due to systematic russian shelling of port infrastructure and power outages.
  • In 10 months, Ukrzaliznytsia (railway company) transported a record volume of grain cargo – 33.7 mln tons.
