Attack on Kryvyi Rih
March 12, 2025
- A russian missile attack on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih.
- The attack damaged an infrastructure facility, high-rise apartment buildings, administrative buildings, a shop and an educational facility.
- 47-year-old woman was killed and wounded at least nine other people
Attack on Gas Infrastructure
- russian attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure began with strikes on gas storage facilities in 2024 and expanded to gas fields in 2025.
- As a result of missile strikes in 2025, Ukraine’s gas production decreased by 40%.
- Aim: to damage Ukraine’s energy sector, undermining the country’s energy independence and economic stability.
Port in Odesa
- russia struck the port in Odesa with ballistic missile (March 11).
- A civilian ship under the flag of Barbados loading wheat for export to Algeria was damaged during the attack.
- Four Syrian citizens have been killed and two other people injured.
Planting Season 2025
- Spring planting season 2025 begins in Ukraine, reaching 1% completion.
- Sowing campaign started on February 29.
- Ukraine plans to plant more than 5.7 mln ha of spring grains and legumes, which corresponds to the level of 2024.
- The new season is characterized by the increase in the area under spring wheat by 28% (to 222.8 K ha), which is due to the growing demand from processors and exporters.
- As of March 14, the sowing campaign was conducted in 14 regions of Ukraine.
- 128.1 K ha of grains and pulses were planted, including 12.9 K ha of wheat, 69.6 K ha of barley, 41.5 K ha of peas and 3.7 K ha of oats.
Export
- The export volume of grain and leguminous crops from Ukraine in the 2024/25 MY amounted to 30.8 mln tons, which is 1.4 mln tons (4%) less than in the same period last season.
- Wheat exports amounted to 12.5 mln tons (3% less than last year).
- This means that 77% of the wheat agreed upon in the grain memorandum (16.2 mln tons) has been exported.
- Barley exports reached 2.2 mln tons (21% more than in the same period last season).
- Rye shipments amounted to 10.8 K tons, which is 11 times more than last season (1 K tons).
- Corn exports amounted to nearly 15.7 mln tons (9% less than last season).
- Flour exports from Ukraine reached 50.5 K tons, which is 34% less than last year.
