Soloviine LLC: Restoring After Occupation
Oleksandr Kryvosheia is the owner of the farm Soloviine LLC, which is located in Kyiv oblast, Vyshhorod district, Kozarovychi village. He grows wheat, sunflower, and corn on five hundred hectares of rented land. There are two warehouses for seeds and fertilizers on the farm.
On February 25, the russian military captured Oleksandr’s farm. They were based there for over a month. The occupiers were firing on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine directly from the farm. The Ukrainian troops were firing back. Appropriately, the farm territory was damaged.
In March, a russian helicopter was shot down over Oleksandr’s field. As a result of hostilities on the farm, one of the warehouses was burned out, together with 250 tons of seeds and fertilizers, costing UAH 1 million (≈24067.39 USD) . Moreover, the farm, like many other enterprises in Kyiv oblast, lost some of the machinery, production facilities, and equipment necessary for productive activities.

There are many shell holes in the farm now. The occupiers ate more than a hundred sheep during the month of staying there. Before the war, Oleksandr had a herd of 170 heads. Out of 20 pigs on the farm, only 1 sow has survived.
The total direct losses of Soloviine LLC caused by the consequences of the russian military aggression are estimated at over UAH 1.3 million (≈31287.61 USD).
The Kyiv region was freed from the occupiers at the beginning of April. Therefore, Oleksandr Kryvosheia has started to rebuild his farm from scratch. With the help of other farmers, he was able to carry out the planting season: he borrowed seeds and equipment. This year, Oleksandr cultivated 400 ha, and 60 ha remained uncultivated. He says that the main problems after the de-occupation were mines and projectile fragments in the fields.
Currently, apart from Oleksandr and his wife, who is an accountant on the farm, Soloviine LLC has 3 permanent employees. Moreover, 70 shareholders and his family (wife, 5-year-old son, and 12-year-old daughter) depend on Oleksandr.

At the request of the World to Rebuild Rural Ukraine project, the Mais company from the Dnipropetrovsk region, whose director is Viktor Borysov, provided Oleksandr with the tractor he needed. On September 11, with the help of WRRU project coordinator Dmytro Kalytka, the tractor was delivered to Soloviine farm. Furthermore, fundraising for the reconstruction of the farm was successfully carried out.

Oleksandr Kryvosheia is very grateful to everyone who helped him with the tractor. He said that next week they will be able to start working in the field without delays, unsown hectares, and additional capital investments.
Oleksandr plans to grow vegetables in the future. Next year, he wants to allocate about 20 ha for the cultivation of cabbage, thus providing additional jobs at the enterprise to about 5 people.
