Export

April 17, 2026

Total Ukrainian exports of grains and legumes in the 2025/26 MY reached 28.2 mln tons, which is 6.1 mln tons, or 18% less than last season.

  • Wheat: over 10.7 mln tons – 2.9 mln tons less than last season.
  • Barley: over 1.4 mln tons – 37% less than on the same date last season.
  • Rye: 0.2 K tons – dozens of times lower than last year’s 10.8 K tons.
  • Corn: nearly 15.7 mln tons – 13% less than last season.
  • Flour: 51.7 K tons – 9% less than last year.

Grain Rail Shipments

April 14, 2026

  • Rail transportation of grain reached 1.43 mln tons (+1.7% m/m), while exports remained almost unchanged at 1.28 mln tons (-0.4%), indicating stable external demand.
  • The main volume (93%) was directed to seaports, while activity at western border crossings declined due to lower wagon transfers and growing congestion.
  • Transportation of vegetable oil and meal decreased by more than 13–14%, reflecting seasonal slowdown in processing.
  • In the first quarter of 2026, Ukrainian ports fulfilled the cargo handling plan by 98%, which amounted to 21.1 mln tons.

Ukrainian farmers planted 997.0 K ha of spring grains and legumes, which is 17% of the forecast.

  • Wheat – 128.5 K ha
  • Barley – 528.7 K ha
  • Peas – 209.8 K ha
  • Oats – 100.3 K ha
  • Millet – 0.3 K ha
  • Corn – 0.1 K ha
  • The largest areas were planted in Odesa, Ternopil, and Mykolaiv regions.
  • Planting of industrial crops is also ongoing, covering 126.8 K ha so far.
  • Sugar beet reached 68.6 K ha (35% of the forecast).
  • Sunflower planting has started in 13 regions, totaling 58.1 K ha, while soybean planting began in Lviv region (0.1 K ha).
